Stihl USA Headquarters

The headquarters building and redesigned main entry to STIHL Incorporated’s main campus in Virginia Beach.

Description

STIHL, INC USA

STIHL, Inc. is a pioneering German manufacturing company with a US headquarters located in Virginia Beach. Development of their new headquarters facility included the construction of a 79,491 sf Office building, technical demonstration area, and revised main entry guard house with traffic circle.

Committed to the preservation of existing natural resources, STIHL Incorporated commissioned Hoggard-Eure to prepare an extensive tree survey which was utilized to site their new facility where it would have the least impact to the mature vegetation on Stihl USA’s main campus in Virginia Beach. The building, designed by HBA Architecture includes 2 floors of office space, an auditorium and training center, as well as a museum. The building includes extensive acoustical mitigation elements due to it’s proximity to Oceana Naval Air Station. The building also included the construction of a green roof which contributes to the Campus’ stormwater treatment facilities which are part of efforts to improve the water quality of the Chesapeake Bay.

The project included significant site improvements which included the construction of a technical demonstration area, stormwater management pond, and traffic circle to improve site ingress/egress. The main entry on Avenger and Viking Drives were also improved with the construction of a new Guardhouse and bus shelter.

Hoggard-Eure performed topographic survey, civil engineering design of infrastructure and site elements, as well as construction stakeout for the project.
